My name is Jenna Dolecek and I’m an American going to school overseas in England. I was planning on going to the London Women’s March but getting to London causes me a lot of pain, as does marching for a long period of time. I have Arnold-Chiari Malformation which is similar to MS and ALS. Although my disability is invisible (for now) it gets worse everyday and makes things like having a nice weekend in London harder and harder. I would rather stand in solidarity with us disabled women who are always overlooked in society, than join a physical march that is thousands strong.
I am currently studying to get my LLM in Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at the University of Essex. I work at the Human Rights Centre as a researcher on violations of human rights in armed conflict. Some of my work can be found here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jenna-dolecek-mhrlp-54425284/.
