Woman with long blond hair and glasses, in a red shirt with turquoise jewelry, crouches barefoot on a gravel path.

Recent events around the world, especially in our country, have called to my heart and inspired me to become more active in speaking out for the greater good of all people. I recently returned from Standing Rock, where I learned so much about speaking up for what’s right. Just a year after having a major spinal surgery, my mobility is still impaired and I know with the crowds expected in Washington, D.C. that an actual march in our nation’s capitol just isn’t in the cards for me. I am grateful for the opportunity to join with others who can’t make it in person. I feel particularly compelled to stand in solidarity with Serge Kovaleski. The childish attack against this disabled NYTimes reporter is among so many, many things that are heinously wrong with our incoming president. I have to march. I have to speak the truth. We can do better than this.
