Woman with glasses and a bob. I’m a redhead in a Wonder Woman shirt with an “I Voted” sticker.

I’m the daughter of a single mom. My mother went back to college after the divorce, putting herself through college while raising two children. She taught me how to be independent and proud of who I am. She taught me that women deserve respect. She demanded it in her own life and taught me to do the same. My grandmother was also an especially strong woman, and I’m blessed to have had these role models in my life.

While my sisters are marching all over the country, I’ll be at a funeral but I will be with you all in spirit. I had hoped to go to my local march since I couldn’t make it to D.C. I march for my mother, my grandmother and all the women in my family. I march for every woman who’s been held back because of her sex. I march for every woman who’s felt like she’s nothing more than the sum of her looks. I march for evey woman who’s ever doubted herself. I march because we now have a president who advocates sexual assault and feels that women are playthings. We have fought for control of our bodies and not to be seen as property for decades, and this presidency threatens to destroy that. We control our own fate, and no one should ever underestimate our potential.
I’m an editor, designer, geek, animal lover and Diet Coke addict. I have a soulcat named Mia and a fantastic boyfriend named Matthew, who supports me and encourages me even when I lack faith in myself or am hangry. I have some amazing friends and family.
