I am marching because I believe in peaceful protest and acts of civil disobedience. I am marching because the voices of women – the voices of those that believe in socioeconomic justice – must be heard. Otherwise, as Audre Lorde wrote, “our silence will choke us”.

I am a 63 year old divorced mother of two. I became an advocate for women’s rights in high school when the battle for the ERA began. And, I have been fighting for women’s rights and issues related to socioeconomic justice ever since. I worked as a registered nurse for thirty years and then became a mid-life career changer. During the first year of my PhD program (10 years ago), I went through one of life’s perfect storms which left me with disabling fibromyalgia and depression/PTSD Otherwise, I would be marching in person in Atlanta.
