I am joining the disability march to share my voice where it will be heard. Women’s health takes a back seat to patriarchal industrial economics. We must take a more holistic matriarchal look at what constitutes health including food production, industrial and environmental toxins, and pharmaceuticals. We need to focus on how we can better promote health not simply deliver costly interventional treatments that mask symptoms and feed the continuum of illness.
GMO production creates endocrine disruptors that take a toll on our bodies and our environment. These are more likely to spur autoimmune disorders in women. I can no longer consume GMO food and pharmaceuticals and still, I fight for my health due to their pervasive contamination in our environment. Until the health care and agriculture industries can offer solutions to help me and not hurt me, I protest. I will fight to choose nature and meditation over medication.
