Why I am marching: When I came out as a dyke in 1982, President Ronald Reagan had not yet uttered the word “AIDS”. I watched half of the community I came out into die off at a spectacular rate while the Federal Government did less than nothing. I am trans, I am queer, I am neurologically disabled in ways that are called ” physical” and “mental”. I have survived abuse and rape and I know this fight may well last longer than I do, but I will not stop fighting patriarchal authoritarianism or abuse culture until one of us is no more. If the people wish it–and act on that wish–Mr. Trump’s very short time in office could be the extinction burst of both.
