My name is Jan and I am a Canadian citizen living in Vancouver, BC. I am joining the Disability March because I am the mom of a 24-year-old trans son, Ash, whose dad is in the US. I worry about my child being the target of verbal and/or physical abuse because of the lack of laws to protect my son, especially when he visits the US. He deserves the same respect and privileges as anyone else in your country. I am also joining this March because I am a woman. Because of my gender, I would not have the same wages and privileges as others in your country. I am also disabled by Crohn’s Disease, Grave’s Disease, and diabetes. In your country I do not have the access to the medical treatment I need to stay as healthy as possible, to have adequate support and social services, guaranteed housing or the ability to work.
