Jane McCrea’s Daughter

The photo shows a gardener’s hand (in red glove) holding a heart-shaped potato with roots growing out of it.

The deep sadness I felt when I realized I couldn’t physically participate in The March was transformed into empowerment when I discovered the Disability March. Deciding to join my disabled sisters actually helped me face the fact of my disability. My dear, wise friend Liz reminded me: “If you qualify, I qualify too, so we’re in it together. “
Being “in this” fight together is all that matters. Standing with all women–able and disabled, young and old, gay, straight, trans, black, brown, indigenous, religious, nonreligious–is how we will drive away the darkness.

Mary Katharine Parks Workinger: Great granddaughter of Michigan suffragists, granddaughter and daughter of Michigan feminists, I am proud to live in the first state (with Illinois and Wisconsin) to ratify the 19th Amendment. My heart is made of the soil of my birthplace—Michigan led the nation in women’s rights, environmental protection, and civil rights, and it will lead the nation again. https://michiganography.wordpress.com/
