I am joining the Disability March because I am dismayed by the behavior and decisions of the President-elect since November 8th. His reactionary tweets, whenever anyone says something even remotely critical, are completely immature and disgraceful. Nearly ever individual chosen for his cabinet is not only unqualified but openly opposed to the department they have been selected for – the hearings have been painful to watch. His unwillingness to put his businesses into a blind trust but instead handing them over to his two sons (and a trusted friend) is a complete and utter joke and will lead to all sorts of ethical issues. The criticism and scrutiny that Walter Shaub has received by the President-elect and a few GOP representatives for simply doing his job would be completely ridiculous if it weren’t so scary. The same goes for the attempt to move the press out of the White House – although that plan is no longer moving forward, the President-elect has indicated he still plans on restricting access to press conferences – this is a first step toward tyranny. And just today I read about how the Trump transition team has been meeting with career White House Staff to discuss plans to “shrink the bureaucracy” by reducing funding or eliminating programs to the departments of Commerce, Energy, Transportation, Justice, and State while eliminating or transferring other departments. At the same time they are planning on privatizing Public Boardcasting and eliminating the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities!!! All this is coming from a blueprint written by the Heritage Foundation, who had a former staffer refer to the NEA and NEH as “waste.” Our country is DOOMED unless we take a stand!!
I am a Director at a Public Library and have been a librarian for over twenty years. I never was very politically active until Scott Walker was elected Governor in my state and started messing things up. Donald Trump is going to be like Scott Walker on steroids.
