Group selfie in the car of a grandmother and two young grand daughters.
I am joining the March for my grandchildren (3 boys, 3 girls).  Women’s Rights are Human Rights.  Women’s Reproductive Healthcare, single pair health insurance, equal pay for equal work, disability SSI continuation are all imperative for a fair and just society.  The kind of society I want for my grandchildren.  Without access to affordable health care and especially reproductive care, women can never be free and equal citizens.  Anyone can move from able bodied to disabled in an instant.  Insuring a safety net is of paramount importance.  I still cannot wrap my head around the fact that our Donald Trump will be our new President.  It revives every nightmare situation from my working career of contact with men with no respect for women and no need for them unless its to serve or please them.  I don’t want to live back in the 1950’s or 1960’s.  I want to live in a modern age in a modern country where all citizens are equal and don’t have to fight for their basic rights.
Born in 1952.  Traveled to Scotland with my mother for a visit in 1953 where I contracted polio.  I spent 3 to 4 months in hospital in Glasgow, receiving excellent care under “socialized medicine”.  Recovered from initial disease.  Grew up, educated through graduate school, worked for 30 years for a major bank, married twice, 2 sons, 6 grandchildren.  In 2009, became disabled due to Post Polio Syndrome, losing the use of my left leg and a host of other symptoms.  Fortunate to be able to support my disability and needed equipment (wheelchair, mobility van, crutches, good doctors).
