Why I March: I march because I care about justice for all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status, disability, or citizenship status. As a young disabled woman who relies on Medicaid for long-term care services and medical equipment, I know the true importance of the Medicaid expansion and all parts of the Affordable Care Act. I will not be silent in the face of a Trump presidency, one that threatens American values with its hateful and divisive rhetoric. I will continue to fight for access to healthcare, quality public education for all students including those with disabilities, accessible housing, and accessible transportation. As an aspiring social worker, it is my duty to demand a safe, prosperous, and peaceful future for each and every one of us.

Bio: I am a graduate student of social work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in Community Health from the University of Illinois with a concentration in rehabilitation and disabilitty studies. I enjoy reading, writing, working for disability justice, and volunteering in my community. I maintain my own blog at The Squeaky Wheelchair, where I write about my experiences living with cerebral palsy.
