I believe in women’s rights and work as a psychologist helping women and children escape from gender violence. I help defend battered women who kill abusive partners, assess psychological impact from all forms of sexual harassment, exploitation, abuse and rape, and train other mental health workers to do the same work. In 1977 I was a delegate to the National Women’s Conference sponsored by the UN in Houston and attended the UN Conference on the Decade for Women in Nairobi in 1985. These gatherings of support really do help make progress. I have had the privilege of growing old along with its infirmities, so physically attending the march, as I did when I was younger and stronger, is not possible. But my heart and soul is there with all those who stand up for LGBTQ rights, anti-racism of all forms, and women’t rights to control our bodies.
