I am joining the Women’s March because “women’s rights are human rights.”  I am marching for my immigrant grandmother, my mother who taught me to stand up for what I believe in, for my aunt who is gay, for my daughters’ future, for kindness, and for those, who like myself, face challenges every day, whether it be from a disability or hardship they struggle to overcome.

Marleena Barber is a vocalist, cabaret artist and disability advocate residing in Southern California.  Her one-woman cabaret show, “Thank You for the Music” tells the story about her life growing up legally blind with Albinism, and how music played a vital role in the journey to believing in herself.  The show is an inspiring piece that reaches all ages, encouraging audiences to live their dream despite the challenges they face.  The show was featured at the 201 International VSA Festival —a festival on arts and disability—produced by the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.  www.marleenabarber.com
