The picture I’ve chosen is important to me. A woman (me) in a blue dress, grey jumper and yellow heart necklace stood by the memorial of the terrorist attacks in Brussels. Me and other young greens went to pay homage after such a horrific event. What really struck me was the sense of community and togetherness we felt – something I am also feeling taking part in this Disability March.

Thank you so much for providing us with a way to join in with Herstory and something so important. I will holding a ritual over skype with some friends to light a candle in soulidarity with the march and then will be passing through London just before it starts. I am unable to join in the march because I’m still struggling with my mobility and find being in large amounts of crowds difficult, but I just wanted to do something to help make a stand.

I feel its appropriate to join in as my alter ego RebelSaint, There’s a lot of fear particularly encapsulated by the oppression of sexual freedom and my work this year is stepping up into celebrating female agency and the liberation of pleasure.  My writing and self expression (found on www.themsrebelsaint.com) centres on my safety, freedom and autonomy to be valued, lustful and secure. Without choice, without power; we have nothing. What this community, this uprising highlights is inclusion and our diversity and I am proud to be part of this.
