I joined the planning of the March here in Tucson, Az. When I started I wasn’t sure I would make it to the event. With over 47 allergies to food, medications, chemicals and environmental pollution, every trip outside of my home is a huge risk. Add to that Celiac Disease, Fibromyalgia and other issues that can cause me pain and deplete my body and my mind, depression and isolation are always a struggle.
But I have been blessed with a stretch of good health at the right time. And with the support and encouragement from the citizens in my community, who have banded together to make this March happen, and who have gone out of thier way to keep me safe, I have been able to give my time and my talent to the cause.
I was even asked to speak on behalf of all the volunteers at the beginning of the event!! Such an honor! I march for all those who are disabled, lost and isolated. I want to be an inspration to every person who lives in fear, pain and lonliness.
We the disabled, are not broken. We have so much to give if we can have courage to reach out to our neighbors and our town with our skills and talents. If we begin that journey by trusting that our neighbors have our back, (and they do!) then we can truly step into the full scope amd breadth of who we were meant to be.
This new administration is a spectacular impetous of change. The March is just the beginning. It is the first day of a new evolution of solidarty and kindness of our society.
