I have been living with Lyme Disease for 24 years and it has completely destroyed my health-cardiac lyme, chronic fatigue, painful lymphadenopathy effecting my entire lymphatic system, and nerve damage. Far too many years I didn’t have health insurance so my access to healthcare was spotty at best. Thanks to the Affordable Care with the Medicaid expansion that covers childless adults, I have health insurance. I have a really great primary care doc I can work with to coordinate my healthcare needs. I have a rheumatologist who prescribed physiotherapy. I have a hematologist/oncologist who is running extensive testing for my lymphatic system problem. I also need to have surgery sometime in the near future for a completely separate chronic medical condition.
If the ACA is terminated, I will lose all access to medical care. No doctor’s visits, no diagnostic testing, no treatment, no more physical therapy, no surgery.
