Jasmine Payget (Australian/Canadian)

I am joining the disability march because I am really concerned for Americans and their lack of universal health care.  I know it affects women as carers as well those dealing with their own disability or chronic illnesses.  Like many across the world and in the USA, I cannot go to a march today.
Affordable health care is really important for all people everywhere, and am with you in spirit as I approach surgery for a complex problem.  I don’t have a disability but conscious of what could be, and much more conscious of people dealing with more serious long term health issues.   I feel fortunate that I have choices, and that my country funds health care (it is truly possible).  However the recently appointed Australian Federal Government Minister for Heath is on record saying he wants an American Health Care system – and we ask why.
I work to protect the earth, especially rivers.  I volunteer with amazing women of Blue Mountains East Timor Sisters, to do what we can in solidarity with Timor Leste women for employment, heath, education and water.
Best wishes Marching Women, seeking justice and fair treatment.
