I have had secondary-progressive multiple sclerosis for 23 years and have been in a wheelchair for 15 years. I am very grateful to be able to participate virtually in the Women’s March on Washington. I have many reasons why.
Obviously, for myself, I am deeply concerned that the incoming administration will do a lot of damage to the ADA. As a parent, I have many concerns for my children and grandchildren. I want my two daughters to make their own healthcare decisions, free from government interference. I want my grandkids to be able to go college without incurring crushing debt. As my husband and I age, we want nonprivatized Social Security and Medicare programs that we paid into and deserve to reap from.
As an American and global citizen, I want government recognition of the existence and dangers of climate change I want all Americans to have access to affordable health care;; I want people of all races, faiths, sexualities, and ages to be treated with dignity and fairness. I want everyone to pay their fair share, especially the wealthy.I want veterans, the poor, and the homeless to be lifted out of despair and poverty. I want our leaders to address global conflicts with intelligent and compassionate diplomacy and not rush to war.
I march with you.
I am from Sheboygan, Wisconsin. I am 63, a mother of three terrific adult kids and have two grandsons.
