Michele Leavitt

Headshot of woman smiling with brown hair and glasses, one hand touching her throat.
I’m joining the march because I believe in the mission, but attending in person would be hard for me with my asthma and arthritis, both of which get worse in cold weather.
I’m a high school dropout, hepatitis C survivor, and former trial attorney who writes poetry and nonfiction. My essays appear most recently in Narratively, Guernica, Sycamore Review, and Catapult, and I’m the author of the Kindle Singles memoir, Walk Away. In my day job, I work with the Women’s Economic Stability Initiative at Santa Fe College in North Florida, helping women over 50 train for and obtain sustainable employment.
