Heather Bender

Close up photo of a woman’s face in the style of a painting. Half aqua blue, half salmon pink.

My name is Heather and I am disabled. I am not physically able to join my six family members who are traveling from Ohio to Washington DC to march. I am joining the Disability March online because I believe that each and every person has the right to fight for what they believe in. Women’s rights, racial equality, climate change, access to affordable healthcare and education are a few of the things that are important to me.

I have spent most of my life battling an invisible illness EVERY.SINGLE.DAY.  It has been my life’s work not to succumb to it. There have been times when I wanted to give up, only to be carried back into my life by those who love me. I want my life to have a positive impact on others. Therefore, I will stand up, speak out, choose love, and be the change I wish to see in the world for as long as there is a breath in my body. LOVE TRUMPS HATE!
