Besides the fact that I support the cause and want healthcare for everyone, I need it myself. In 2008 I hurt my leg so badly that my doctor wouldn’t let me go back to my basement apartment. I couldn’t have possibly afforded the surgery and rehab to get better without Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security Disability. To this day, I rely on Medicare and SSDI, and am horrified that Republicans somehow think it’s optional or an “entitlement” (which it is, if you remember that we’ve all paid into it and are therefore entitled to getting the help).
I’m a singer-songwriter from Ann Arbor, MI. I do mostly comedy, mostly folk-rock, except for all the other stuff. I’ve performed for thirty years at science fiction conventions across the country and in Canada and England, and I’m best known for having written “A Boy And His Frog” (a tribute to Jim Henson) and the official chantey for Talk Like A Pirate Day. My website is filkertom.com.
