The reasons for marching have been stated so many times by so many people in much more eloquent language than I can muster. But I can say that, as a Unitarian Universalist, everything that this man and his administration stand for are completely in contrast to everything embodied in the UUs 7 Principles (http://www.uua.org/beliefs/what-we-believe/principles) and I am not able to stand silently by and watch them tear this country down.
My name is Toya, I live with Ulcerative Colitis/Inflammatory Bowel Disease and my current energy levels prevent me from traveling to participate in Washington D.C. or even in our local March in Austin, Texas. I have many friends and family who are going and I will send them with as many pussyhats (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/pussyhat-project) as I can finish. I am “knytja” (http://www.ravelry.com/people/knytja) on Ravelry and will post pictures of my finished hats and maybe pictures from the ATX March if I can get them. I am so thankful to the organizers of this online march. I was trying not to feel bad (left out, small, marginalized, not tough enough, not strong enough, not brave enough, making up reasons/making other plans to justify my absence) for not going on Saturday, but this has given me strength. I can still be counted. I can still march. I will be there in spirit. Thank you.
