Group of 55 marchers

Name: Christine Sarno-Doyle
Why I Am Joining The March : I am joining the March because it’s important to me that I add my voice and my being to the message of equality. I’m 63 years old and I’ve lived through and overcome discrimination – from taking out a loan, buying a car, and in the workplace. I’ve lived through and overcome sexual harassment in the workplace.
It’s nearly incomprehensible that we are here fighting for our rights again. Dignity. Respect. Acceptance. Love. Lifting each other up. Speaking loudly for those who cannot. I will be marching for as long as it takes.
I’m unable to march in D.C. or in Boston because of post-traumatic stress I’m dealing with. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to participate and march here.

Name: Linda Brown
Why I Am Joining The March : Trump and his evil ways will destroy the country

Karen Miller

Why I Am Joining The March : I am a 79 year old feminist with severe mobility issues due to scoliosis and arthritis. I have been involved in planning the local march in Rapid City, SD but cannot walk in it. Thanks for this opportunity to participate.

Name: Kellee Beaudry
Why I Am Joining The March : Where do I start?! This bigoted, xenophobic, mysogenistic, arrogant narcissistic man-child is among other things completely without the ethics and knowledge needed for the office. I also believe he has numerous conflicts of interest in his shady business dealings and probably shady ties to Russia. He is a complete disaster for our country!!

Name: April Rumbles
Why I Am Joining The March : I am disabled and have multiple cancers. Without the ACA I would be dead by now. Now this new administration wants to take that away.

Name: Cynthia Florsheim
Why I Am Joining The March : I have molibilty challenges and I am worried they are getting worse. Trump and his ultra conservative cabinet will cause me and so many other seniors to lose their health care.
I have grandchildren in public schools. They need a Secretary of education that will fight for public schools not Trumps apointee.

Name: Jill Rose
Why I Am Joining The March : I am a liberal feminist lesbian who is terrified by the incoming administration. I live with chronic illness in a very remote area and am thus unable to attend a march in person. But I want to participate and show support.

Name: Shelley Laub
Why I Am Joining The March : I am vehemently opposed to this president elect. I am a former teacher, and would never hold him up as an example to my students or family. He is totally unfit, unqualified and inappropriate and both he and Pence need to withdraw or be impeached from this honor, that neither deserve. #CAN’TDOIT#TRUMPWILLNEVERBEMYPRESIDENT

Name: Chera Sherman-Breland
Why I Am Joining The March : I march for equality for all. I am Caucasian and my husband of 24 years if African American. We have two amazing boys. I want them to judged by the content of their character, rather than the color of their skin. Thank you for the support!

Name: Sonya Levin
Why I Am Joining The March : We deserve to be treated fairly & equally in the United States. Everyone does. Trump has made it very clear he is just a bully and doesn’t believe in humility.

Name: Samina Sundas
Comment: Thank you so much for doing this amazing work.

Name: Barbara J Kirk
Why I Am Joining The March : I believe that women deserve more. As a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, I see on a daily basis how their needs are unmet; how access to health care that includes all forms of contraception can decrease the need for abortion, but also that abortion services should still be available to those who need them. In this country, women’s health seems almost like an afterthought, something that is only OK after the needs of men are taken care of. It is certainly a sad day when Viagra is a covered medicine, but simple contraception is not.

Autumn

Why I Am Joining The March : I am joining this march as I cannot physically march in Saturday. This is a wonderful idea. I am a woman, disabled, both physically and learning, I want to make sure those like me always have the aid and tools they need to succeed in life…this new administration may make this difficult. …I want to help make sure they don’t succeed in making it difficult for people like me.

Name: Meg Erickson
Why I Am Joining The March : I join to stand with marginalized people and against their oppressors.

Name: Amy Lebowitz Bruce
Why I Am Joining The March : I have asthma and walking in cold weather tends to exacerbate it. However, I still want to support the marchers and stand up virtually for the values of inclusion and fairness, and against hate and fear.

Name: Jamie
Why I Am Joining The March : I am 38 yrs old and deal with social anxiety, chronic depression, and obsessive disorders. I work full time and will mostly likely not make the marches due to a variety of mental and physical factors. These marches are important. Human rights, Women’s rights, LGBT* rights, animal rights, environmental protection, healthcare reform, education reform, all of it. Trump will cease many of the policies that are in place that help millions of Americans get treatment, care, education, equal rights and employment oppurtunites, that assist our environmental protection to ensure clean water and air, that protect animals from abuse and slaughter, and to help folks with mental and physical diabilities receive treatment. He will run this country into the ground. We need to stand up and be heard and tell him and Congress to save these vital rights, laws, policies, and amendments.

Name: Michal Victoria
Why I Am Joining The March : I am a woman, number one. I have watched mostly white men have the helm for centuries and rape the earth, put profit before people, prioritize hierarchy and power over cooperation and equity and community. I will not stand by watch women’s rights, LBGTQ rights, racism and the protection of our planet be rolled back. In fact, we must move forward! And as a white woman I want to especially support all my women of color. We owe a big apology to women of color for many things, especially our 53% vote for Trump.

Name: Heidi Wehmeyer
Why I Am Joining The March : I march for women’s human rights. I march for choice. I march for truly equal rights for all. I march for all the women who came before and paved the way. I march for the young generations so hopefully they won’t have to. I march for kindness and fiercely doing good in the world to leave it better than we found it. I march for peace.

Name: Elizabeth Shannon
Why I Am Joining The March : I have a bad hip and cannot walk, but I would really like to participate in the Women’s March!

Name: Evalyne Mann

Why I Am Joining The March : peace, health care, immgration

Name: Sara keenan
Why I Am Joining The March : To promote equality for all. To provide human decency to all. To fight this regime who does not care about the average person or most importantly the constitution and laws of this land. I don’t want to go back 40 years in human and civil rights by someone who doesn’t have the popular vote. Mostly I do this because I’m a proud citizen.

Name: Anne Clarke
Why I Am Joining The March : I’m joining because , myself along with so many others with disabilities are APPAULED by our soon to be Presidents actions when he made fun at a disabled man and I want Mr Trump to know that his deplorable action has touched myself and all those who have a disability.

Name: seayomama
Why I Am Joining The March : When my birth control failed, I was about to enter graduate school. It would have been a disastrous time for me to have a fourth child. Although there was a too-long waiting period, I was able to have the abortion that made my teaching career possible. Now I am a grandmother, and I want my daughters, my nieces, and however many granddaughters fortune may grant me to have that same choice. I have marched across three decades and in three states and the District of Columbia for the right to choose in years gone by; now my knees are shot, but I am grateful for this chance to march virtually. Sisterhood and solidarity forever!

Name: Karen Rakestraw

Name: Suza Ortego
Why I Am Joining The March : I enjoy this march from the bottom of my Heart because i refuse to accept no one that is such racist and sexist and only money centered for self profit that just wants to fill hes pockets going over any rights *
I am uterly against Trum becoming President even not belonging to the USA because i think that this Man is a mess because he has no idea how to be a President and hes coleric way to act is no way at all in any sense to be a representant of such a Country as the United States of America builded up from People coming all over the World and which such a diversity of Culteres and Ways *

Name: Linda A Arndt

Name: Roberta Moore
Why I Am Joining The March : Trump is the most corrupt and dangerous man to ever enter the White House.

Name: Erin Ann Gilligan
Why I Am Joining The March : I am joining the march for everyone of my friends that have been sexually abused, in addition to my own experiences. It’s got to stop!

Name: Janet Abramson
Why I Am Joining The March : In memory of our beloved son, Lee J. Abramson, who passed away exactly a year ago on January 20, 2016 of ALS. He spent 11 years in a wheelchair and when he died, he could move only one finger and could no longer speak. He was the bravest, strongest person I have ever know. He was a talented musician and composer who created over a dozen CDs of original music. His music is still enjoyed on iTunes and Amazon. He would have been proud to participate in the Disability March to assert the dignity and power of all differently- abled persons everywhere.

Name: Autumn Quigley

Name: Becky Haines
Why I Am Joining The March : I want Mr. Trump to know he is not my president. He has shown his values, disrespecting women, the disabled, democracy itself, are Not mine.
My Picture: Mourning

Name: Gail Ilse Mayberry
Why I Am Joining The March : With the change in administration I am fearful that the strides that have been made for women, minorities and our democracy are under attack. I want to be part of the movement of hope and love. I am disabled and can’t walk in the womens march so happy for this chance to do a virtual March.

Name: Lori Hermanson
Why I Am Joining The March : Because I care about the future.

Name: Francie Sartain
Why I Am Joining The March : I demonstrated, marched and worked hard 40 years ago for all of the rights that Trump is trying to take away from us today. Believe me if I could physically do it I’d be at that march! I will be wearing my pink pussy hat tomorrow and will be with you in spirit all the way!

Name: Kathleen Jones
Why I Am Joining The March : I am joining the Virtual Women’s March on Washington DC because I have Multiple Sclerosis and a heart condition. I am very worried that if Mr. Trump takes my medicare from me I will not be able to go to my doctor’s appointments. Also if he decides to cut my Social Security benefits I would have to go live with my daughter. Also I have a granddaughter who is 3 years old, she has special needs and if Trump cuts the Federal Aide to schools my granddaughter will not be able to get speech Therapy that she needs very badly.

Name: Linda Moelter
Why I Am Joining The March : Like many women from the sixties, I have spent my adult life working in quiet ways for the rights of all Americans. The Trump campaign has been the antithesis of this idea and I believe the March represents everything we have been working for. It represents to me the outward symbol of resistance and encourages many to stay aware and do what they can to continue moving forward. This is one of the ways I can join the effort. Blessings on all.

Name: Natalya
Why I Am Joining The March : I am afraid of the damage that Trump will do to our world. I am afraid for the environment, for our public school system, for health care, for Planned Parenthood, for Roe v. Wade, for gun safety, for vaccination education, for multicultural relations, for world peace. I want to express my belief that his ideas are going to take us down a dangerous path.

Name: Jason Fjord

Name: Mary Flaherty
Why I Am Joining The March : Although I have excellent health insurance from the last employment place I medically retired from. I wanted to join the Woman’s March to help my friends & family members who may stuffer if the GOP make drastic changes on the current ACA. Also we need to band together and try to STOP the republicans & Trump trying to make or change laws that will hurt the people of America such as Hispanic, Muslims, LGBT, War Veterans, Disabled, Parenthood and the working poor who can’t get by in life.

Name: Rev. Mary Dyer
Why I Am Joining The March : We must be firm and continue to fight for justice. One reason I will not be there is that there will probably not be accommodation for people with hearing loss, such as captioning and possibly a hearing loop for those of us who have hearing loss, 20% of the population, but who do not know or use sign language. Hoping the bonds made here will continue to expand to include those with disabilities who are sometimes overlooked unintentionally.

Why I Am Joining The March : I am joining the March because it is my duty as a mother of a daughter and 2 granddaughters.

Name: Mimi Morris
Why I Am Joining The March : I believe in equal rights for all. I believe in saving the planet. I believe in a woman’s right to birth control and abortion. I fought for these things through the 1970s, and I am very sad that my daughters must now wage the same battles. I am Jewish, and the anti-Semitic hate that Trump has unleashed terrifies me. Not so much for me…I’m so old that my death would be sad but not be tragic. Again, I fear for my children. The trump monster has unleashed hate unprecedented in the country. It can never be normalized or accepted.
I wish I could march, either in Washington or my local march. I have spinal stenosis and walking more than a block brings unrelenting pain. I cheer on my sisters and brothers who will be marching.

Name: Peteriina Vainola
Why I Am Joining The March : I would be the first to march – if I could. Anyone who mocks people with disabilities, or to be honest, anyone who mocks any group of people, can not deserve my respect as the leader of the free world.
My Picture: Fwd: Greetings All: Let’s send the Obama’s out in solidarity on Fri, Jan 20th 2016 by changing all profile pics to pictures of The Best First Family, Ever. We need everyone to participate for the maximum impact. In order for this to work you must change the profile pic on EVERY social media network. Pass along and participate! #THANKSOBAMA

Name: Erica Simmons
Why I Am Joining The March : I am an epileptic with medication that would affect a baby if unknowingly got pregnant. This would deform the child, however I cannot go without this medication or I will have a seizure which would also harm the child. I want to march because it is not fair to prevent women the choice that should be their own.
There are many circumstances that Planned Parenthood assists women under. Who am I to say my reasoning is better than anyone else’s?
Secondly, as a woman that has been ruffied, the lack of compassion I received from the hospital I went to was insurmountable. I insisted on a urine test to prove I had been drugged but the doctor disregarded my concerns and through the tests away. At Planned Parenthood I believe the proper procedures would have been followed, including a rape kit. (I should also mention the man whom put the drug in my drink was being accused of raping a girl the week prior) At Planned Parenthood, they are trained in these sensitive topics and put the concerns for the patient first without discrimination.
That is why I am marching.

Name: Emily
Why I Am Joining The March : I am opposed to the violation of human rights and dignity that the incoming administration insists upon. I believe in a fair democracy and election process and I feel this election was compomised by foreign interests. Trump is not a legitimate President elect, sexual predators are not normally allowed to hold any office in government, and the executive branch should be no exception. He has no political experience, he lost every single debate, and 3 million more people voted for Clinton. His cabinet appointments are all dangerously incompetent, clearly chosen by someone who is also dangerously incompetent. This rapist is not who the majority of people selected to lead this country. God save Us All.

Name: Elaine Jefferson
Why I Am Joining The March : Because I believe in caring for everyone and preserving women’s rights, children’s rights, black lives, health care and so much more. Trump and his cabinet and family just don’t care for any of this. He will take away social security, health are, medicare and medicaid. God Help us.

Name: Elandria
Why I Am Joining The March : I am joining the online disability March because I believe that women with disabilities are generally not counted in the way that we can participate in public spaces and in our movement work. I have been an organizer and popular educator for many years and have stopped going to rallies and demonstrations for awhile but this lifts my soul and girls and womyn and gender no conforming folks have the right to be and determine for themselves as long as their determinations do not discriminate against anyone else.

Name: Rhonda Ralson
Why I Am Joining The March : I am joining the online march because although my mind is screaming in outrage at the repeal process for the Affordable Care Act, my body is too weak and painful to join in person. ObamaCare literally pays for the very air I breathe. I have been using supplemental oxygen since 2009. I suffer from Chronic Systemic Sarcoidosis, and auto immune inflammatory disease that causes my immune system to attack my own body. You can imagine just how expensive the drugs I have to take for this are. I am also an insulin dependent diabetic. If I lose my insurance coverage, I will be dead within a month. The incoming administration thinks that I am a drain on society and that I do not deserve to live. I am scared.

Name: Susan E. Dion
Why I Am Joining The March : I am with all of you in spirit!! I can no longer do “all the things” due to my physical limitations. Rheumatoid arthritus and diminished kidney function have slowed my body , but NEVER my spirit! I MUST stand with kindred spirits against the voices who want to diminish humanity and the power of love, light and kindness! Thank you for this opportunity! WE SHALL OVERCOME the power of darkness!

Name: Dove Calderwood
Why I Am Joining The March : Because I entirely disapprove of a President who believes it is perfectly okay to grab a woman by the genitals without their consent. Because I want to show that America is better than this, and that we need to spend the next 4-8 years proving that. This is not normal, nor will it ever be. I will not accept it.
