Due to two accidents, I need a cane to walk. I’m still able to do the work I love, do daily errands, host a monthly women & trans poetry reading at a local independent bookstore, travel on mass transportation and generally live my life.
However to walk for hours in a large crowd would be difficult.
So this 65 yr old lesbian and daughter of immigrants would like to thank the disability march for the opportunity to protest an administration that makes fun of the disabled, demonizes Muslims and immigrants, would take away health care, privatize Social Security, take away civil rights for women, LGBT and people of color and encourages hate and fear.
