A split-screen image. On the left, a young woman with long brown hair is wearing a navy blazer with Hillary pins and a grey t-shirt with the “I’m With Her” logo. On the right, there is a pair of tan high heel shoes with a sign above them that reads, “I’m missing: grad school, a career, traveling the world, my former abilities, my 20s.”

I have an invisible disability cause by my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS/ME) and Fibromyalgia. The post-exertion malaise from a long march and protest would be too much for my body to handle and could set off a dangerous flare up of symptoms. I’m participating virtually because I wish I could be there in person to fight for our right to heath care, equality, and environmental ideals. We need to fight daily in numerous ways so that we do not normalize this president nor his bigotry and hate.

I’m a 26-year-old progressive from Maine and am dealing with the difficulties of chronic invisible illness. Follow me on Instagram @mainelybeth.
