I am joining the Disability March because I feel the pull to have my voice heard. I am only one voice among many in the disability community. As an adult, I am learning how important disability activism is to ensure that people in the disability community continue to receive the support that they need to live with dignity and as a valued member of society. So much progress has been made to that end. However, improvements could be made. Strengthening government assistance programs is an important issue for me, as it allows me to live in the community in a way that meets all of my needs. My goal in adding my voice to the vast ocean of voices is to demonstrate to our country that we are here and we will be heard. I believe joining the Disability March is an opportunity to bring our needs into awareness.
