I am joining the Disability March because I have fibromyalgia and dysautonomia, which prevent me from taking part in the Women’s March, but I still want to protest and make my voice heard. People with disabilities/chronic illness are often left out of physical ways to protest despite the fact that we make up 20% of the population and intersect with every other marginalized group.I live with Bipolar Disorder, Fibromyalgia, Dysautonomia, mal de debarquement and PTSD. I have been unable to work or do much advocacy work due to chronic pain, chronic fatigue and anxiety. I run a support group in the Bay Area for people with chronic illness and disabilities: https://www.meetup.com/East-Bay-Chronic-Illness-Support-Group/.
I learned about the Disability March at 11:26 pm PST, so I guess I’m starting my march when everyone else is finished. But that’s pretty much standard practice for me since my arthritic knees don’t move me around much. I’m 78, watched the ERA die in 1979 & was so looking forward to seeing a woman in the White House this year. Instead, we got a “short-fingered vulgarian” who is beyond dreadful. I AM “MARCHING” TONIGHT IN OPPOSITION TO HIM.
